Greater Seaport of St Pete cargo traffic rises 1% in Jan–Jun
ST.PETERSBURG, Jul 23 (PRIME) -- The cargo traffic of Russia’s Greater Seaport of St. Petersburg grew 1% on the year to 30.076 million tonnes in January–June, the Administration of the Baltic Sea Ports said on Tuesday.
The port’s oil product transshipment rose 3% to 4.556 million tonnes. Container transshipment grew 7% to 13.918 million tonnes, or 1.148 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
Handling of general cargo decreased 9% to 6.278 million tonnes.
Handling of bulk cargo fell 3% to 4.236 million tonnes, including of mineral fertilizers falling 4% to 3.714 million tonnes and of ore rose by 6% to 367,000 tonnes.
The Greater Port of St. Petersburg is the largest port in Russia’s Northwest Federal District.
